Shira just discovered that Nature isn't all flowers and happy ever afters. She came home from her bike ride all upset because she discovered a broken nest, a crushed birds egg and a whole egg lying on the ground. She picked the whole egg up and climbed the tree to see if she could find a nest. What she found were the ruins of a nest and in the process managed to crush the remaining egg.
I had to explain to her that things like this happened in nature and that she was not a bird killer.
I need to go and find our book that shows the development of a chicken because she is disturbed by the blood she sees in the crushed egg.
